Where to workweek lunch during Summer Restaurant Week
Workweek lunches - they have to be quick and just enough fun. The LizLuke Team set out to find which spots fit the bill.
First up, Society Fair, where you’ll find a classy but casual scene and a one stop shop offering a market, butchery, bistro, wine bar and demo kitchen. Novelty items in the market run the gamut of coffee table cookbooks to squiggly pops but also include practical cocktail essentials like strainers, craft tonic mixers and the often hard-to-find aperitif wine, Lillet. Grab your breakfast sandwich as early as 7am and stick around for dinner and wine until 10pm on the weekends.
The wine list offers a variety of economical and tasty choices. Then, there are the “Tails From the Vine,” spirits under the influence of wine & Todd Thrasher tonic syrups. Our fav? Pinktini, Broker’s Gin, house-made lemongrass reduction and a splash of sangiovese rosé - yummm.
Service was a cinch and our trip was prompt and polite. The food was average and nothing to write home about. The pollo asado lacked oomph with no remarkable spice and too much bread vs. chicken breast. Not a deal breaker though. Glitzy decor lightened up the dreary day we visited. Lunch ended with superb espresso and a quick perusing of the petite and colorful birthday cakes on display.
Next week, we’ll tell you about Vola’s Dockside Grille.
